The opening weekend of the club season typically falls in the last week of April, anchored around the International Music Summit (IMS), which brings DJs, producers and industry figures to the island. May: fully open, not yet overwhelming
May is widely considered the best month to arrive if you want the island at its most balanced. Every hotel, beach club and restaurant is open by early May. The weather is warm and sunny, beach clubs along Playa d’en Bossa, Cala Jondal and San Antonio Bay begin their season, and the sea temperature climbs to around 18–19°C. Most major clubs are running their weekly residencies by mid-May.
Prices are noticeably lower than peak summer, and the best spots on the island, from the cliffs at Es Vedrà to the beaches of the north, are easy to access without queues or crowds. June: summer in full swing
By June the sea has warmed to around 22°C and all clubs are running at full capacity. The island is busy but not yet at the intensity of July and August. Accommodation prices begin to climb but haven’t peaked. June is a good month for first-time visitors who want the full Ibiza experience without the extremes of high season.
July and August: peak season
July and August are the most intense months on the island. Air temperatures regularly reach 30–32°C, the sea climbs to 25–27°C, and every beach, club and restaurant operates at maximum capacity. Flights from across Europe arrive daily, prices are at their highest, and the island’s nightlife is at its most electric.
For anyone planning time on the water, peak season means busier anchorages and higher demand on the charter fleet. The payoff is the warmest sea of the year and the longest days, with sunset from Café del Mar or the cliffs near Cala d’Hort around 9pm. Plan well in advance: accommodation, charter boats and club tickets all require early booking for July and August.
September: the locals’ favourite
September is when experienced Ibiza visitors tend to go. The sea retains all the heat of summer (24–25°C), daytime temperatures average around 27°C, and the island is noticeably quieter after the first week of the month. Prices drop, the best spots become accessible again, and the closing parties begin to build toward their legendary end-of-season crescendo.
For boat days, September is arguably the prime month. Conditions are stable, the water is at its warmest, and the northern coves including Cala Benirrás, Cala Salada and the area around Punta Galera are at their best. When does the Ibiza season end?

Is there a «best month» for visiting Ibiza on the water?
